A diaspora-based political support group has endorsed the governorship ambition of Solomon Adeola, the senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District in Ogun State.

The group, known as the Yayi Diaspora Movement, announced its backing during its inaugural gathering, which brought together Ogun indigenes living across 27 countries. According to the organisers, the meeting marked the formal unveiling of the movement and the start of a coordinated effort by members abroad to promote Adeola’s governorship aspiration.

In a statement released after the meeting, the movement’s leadership said participants unanimously passed a vote of confidence in the senator, citing what they described as his leadership qualities and track record in public service.

Members joining the meeting from Europe, North America, the Middle East and other regions pledged to mobilise support for Adeola among Ogun citizens both at home and abroad.

The group also pointed to projects and initiatives it said the lawmaker had facilitated across the three senatorial districts in Ogun State, arguing that his impact extends beyond the constituency he currently represents.

As part of its strategy, the movement disclosed plans to appoint a representative within the state to coordinate its activities locally. The coordinator will work with representatives across the state’s 20 local government areas to strengthen grassroots engagement.

The organisation added that it would continue mobilising Ogun indigenes in the diaspora and supporting initiatives aimed at advancing the state’s development.
