President and Chief Executive of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, has held high-level talks with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney as both leaders explored opportunities to strengthen trade and investment ties between Canada and Africa.

The discussions focused on building strategic partnerships that would support sustainable economic development, accelerate industrialization, and unlock new investment opportunities across the African continent. The engagement reflects growing international interest in expanding economic cooperation with Africa as governments and businesses seek mutually beneficial partnerships.

During the meeting, Dangote reiterated the importance of African-led investment, stressing that the continent's long-term development depends on Africans taking the lead in financing transformative projects. According to him, strong domestic investment sends a positive signal to international investors and helps create an environment that attracts global capital.

He noted that Africa possesses significant economic potential, driven by its abundant natural resources, expanding consumer market, and youthful population. Harnessing these strengths through strategic investment, he said, would support job creation, industrial growth, and long-term prosperity.

The meeting comes at a time when several global economies are increasing their engagement with Africa. Countries including the United Arab Emirates, China, the United States, India, and Canada have shown growing interest in expanding trade, infrastructure development, manufacturing, and investment partnerships across the continent.

Observers say stronger Canada-Africa economic cooperation could open new opportunities in sectors such as mining, agriculture, manufacturing, energy, and technology, while encouraging greater private-sector collaboration.

The engagement between Dangote and Prime Minister Carney underscores the increasing recognition of Africa as a key destination for global investment and reinforces the importance of partnerships that deliver sustainable growth and shared economic benefits.
