The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Command, has transferred a container of expired raw materials valued at N36.5 million to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

The handover involved a 20-foot container carrying 440 bags of expired triple-pressed stearic acid imported from Indonesia, following interception during routine cargo examination.

Speaking on the development, the Acting Customs Area Comptroller, Bolaji Adigun, said the consignment violated import regulations and posed potential risks to public health, necessitating immediate regulatory action.

He added that the interception underscores the Service’s zero-tolerance stance on illegal imports, false declarations, and activities capable of undermining public safety and economic integrity.

In a related operation, Customs also intercepted a 40-foot container falsely declared as zipped luggage but found to contain empty suitcases valued at N5 million, reinforcing its commitment to strict trade compliance and enforcement.
