Burkina Faso’s Minister of Digital Transition, Posts, and Electronic Communications, Aminata Zerbo/Sabane, has met with a high-level African diaspora delegation led by Dr. Arikana Chihombori, former African Union Representative to the United States, to explore new partnerships in digital innovation and media development.

The meeting, held in Ouagadougou on Thursday, November 6, 2025, focused on establishing a pan-African media hub aimed at combating disinformation and promoting accurate narratives about the continent. The diaspora team also proposed a digital skills exchange initiative to connect African professionals abroad with young innovators at home.

Although no formal agreements were signed, both sides agreed to initiate feasibility studies and set up a monitoring framework to turn the proposals into actionable projects.

“We want real projects, real action, and measurable results. Your proposals align perfectly with our vision,” Minister Zerbo/Sabane stated, emphasizing the government’s commitment to results-driven partnerships.

The dialogue forms part of Burkina Faso’s wider digital transformation strategy, which prioritizes developing local expertise and attracting diaspora talent to fill skill gaps in artificial intelligence, data science, and emerging technologies.

Dr. Chihombori commended the government’s openness to collaboration, stressing that such partnerships could help bridge Africa’s digital divide and foster inclusive growth across the continent.
