The All Progressives Congress (APC)’s decision to inaugurate a 138-member campaign committee for the Federal Capital Territory has sparked debate within political circles, with critics describing it as excessive.

Supporters argue that the large committee reflects the party’s commitment to grassroots mobilization and comprehensive outreach. They maintain that the FCT remains strategically important in national politics.

Critics, however, likened the move to “killing an ant with a sledgehammer,” suggesting that such an expansive structure may create coordination challenges and inflate operational costs.

Party insiders have defended the composition, stating that the committee integrates youth leaders, women representatives, and ward coordinators to ensure inclusive participation.

As campaign strategies gradually take shape ahead of 2027, the APC’s approach in the FCT underscores the competitive intensity expected in the next electoral cycle.
