The Executive Chairman of Apapa Local Government, Hon. Idowu Adejumoke Senbanjo, has called on youth representatives from the council area to be exemplary ambassadors of Lagos State and Nigeria as they depart for the African Union Leadership Youth Summit holding in Ethiopia.

The summit, themed “Building a United Front to Advance the Cause of Justice for African Youth and People of African Descent Through Reparation,” will convene emerging leaders from across the continent to discuss issues of justice, reparations, and youth inclusion in Africa’s development agenda.
Addressing the delegates at a farewell ceremony in Apapa, Senbanjo charged them to make meaningful contributions at the summit, acquire valuable insights, and return home with transformative ideas to support community growth and development.
She urged them to embody the values of integrity, excellence, and patriotism, stressing that their participation reflected the trust and confidence reposed in them by the people of Apapa and Lagos State at large.

Senbanjo also emphasised that the summit presented an opportunity to project the positive image of Nigerian youth, showcase their innovation and resilience, and build partnerships with counterparts from other African nations.
“You are going not only as participants but as ambassadors of Apapa and Nigeria. Bring back the knowledge and experiences you gain to inspire other young people. Let your conduct reflect excellence, discipline, and leadership,” she said.
“Apapa’s youth are our pride. We are sending forth our best to show the world what Nigerian youth are capable of,” the council boss added, reaffirming her administration’s dedication to empowering young people through mentorship, education, and global exposure.
In his remarks, the APC Lagos State Youth Leader and member of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), Dr. Seriki Murtala Ishola, commended Senbanjo’s visionary leadership in championing youth inclusion, describing Apapa as a model for community-driven innovation. He urged the delegates to conduct themselves with integrity and purpose, noting that their performance at the summit would shape global perceptions of Nigerian youth.
