Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to significantly reduce the state’s infrastructure deficit as he flagged off the Akure–Imafon road project in Akure North Local Council.

The governor said the project responds to the long-standing demands of residents and aligns with promises he made during his campaign and inauguration, noting that infrastructure renewal remains a key priority of his government.

He commended traditional rulers, youth leaders, landlords and government officials for their years of self-help interventions in maintaining the road network before government intervention.

Aiyedatiwa explained that the State Executive Council has approved the rehabilitation and construction of 101 kilometres of new roads across the three senatorial districts to improve movement and open up communities.

He assured residents of Igbatoro, Ala and Imafon communities that the project would be completed within the dry season while emphasising that all inherited road projects, including the Ijoka dual carriageway, would be fully delivered.

“Your patience and perseverance have finally paid off. The government has taken over that burden, and your loyalty and sacrifice have not gone unrewarded.”
“This project is not just a road; it is a symbol of hope, benevolence, and connection, a lifeline that will open up our community, improve trade and bring social and economic growth to our people.”

Meanwhile, residents and farmers in Ondo East Local Government Area have appealed to the governor to intervene in a persistent land crisis allegedly caused by suspected land grabbers disrupting farmland and community peace.
