The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has cautioned its members against internal bickering and public attacks on party leaders, urging unity as preparations intensify for the 2027 general election.

The warning was issued by the party’s National Vice Chairman (South East), Mr. Bon Unachukwu, in a statement made available to journalists in Owerri on Friday. He stressed that while healthy debate and political engagement are essential in a democratic party, actions capable of creating division must be avoided.
Unachukwu noted that members are free to support any aspirant of their choice, but warned that such preferences should not degenerate into insults, harassment, or actions that undermine the party’s leadership and collective objectives.
According to him, the ADC’s priority remains winning the 2027 general election and presenting Nigerians with a credible alternative built on the principles of good governance, inclusiveness, and accountability.

The statement comes amid reported tensions within the party, as differing views over leadership and strategic direction continue to surface. Unachukwu urged members to remain focused on opposition unity, adding that internal discord only strengthens the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
