The Abia State Government has approved a strategic partnership with U.S.-based QANTUS Medical Foundation to train all categories of health workers across the state, in a move aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery and institutional best practices.

The Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, disclosed the development while briefing journalists on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti. He said the collaboration would focus on improving healthcare standards and instilling a culture of excellence among medical personnel.

According to Kanu, the partnership between the State Ministry of Health and the U.S.-based healthcare consultancy outfit is designed to drive a comprehensive healthcare culture change. He explained that the training initiative will equip health workers with modern techniques and globally accepted standards in patient care and service delivery.

In addition to the training programme, the Commissioner announced plans to operationalise 53 fully equipped Primary Healthcare Centres under the “Project Ekwueme” initiative. The centres are expected to significantly boost primary healthcare access and efficiency across communities in the state.

The agency recognised 20 focal persons across various MDAs with certificates and cash rewards for outstanding performance. Officials urged participants to remain proactive and committed to achieving Universal Health Coverage in Lagos State.
