No fewer than 23,000 residents across the 20 local government areas of Ogun State have benefitted from the ongoing distribution of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer cards, designed to support vulnerable households and reduce poverty nationwide.

The Ogun State Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Hon. Olufunmilayo Efuwape, disclosed this during a monitoring exercise in Ikenne Local Government, noting that the initiative remains one of the government’s major interventions to cushion the effects of economic hardship.
She revealed that 754 ATM-loaded cards were allocated to Ikenne beneficiaries, urging recipients to use the funds judiciously and invest in productive ventures. She also appealed to residents yet to receive their cards to remain patient, assuring them that distribution would continue as their names appear on the social register.
At Odogbolu Local Government, the State Programme Manager, Mrs. Funmi Baker, explained that the distribution was being carried out in phases, highlighting that 13,000 cards had been issued previously, while an additional 10,000 were provided for the current statewide exercise.

She noted that beneficiary selection was handled strictly by the State Operations Coordinating Unit (SOCU) based on established criteria, adding that President Bola Tinubu had expanded the intervention by increasing the monthly support from ₦5,000 to ₦25,000, totalling ₦75,000 per beneficiary.
“President Tinubu’s directive to upscale the programme reflects the government’s clear commitment to supporting vulnerable citizens during this challenging economic period,” she said.
“We encourage beneficiaries to put the funds into meaningful ventures that can improve their livelihoods and stimulate local economic growth across Ogun communities,” she added.
Chairmen of Ikenne and Odogbolu LGAs, Hon. Asimi Jamiu and Dr. Diya Babatunde represented by HOLGA Mr. Awobutu Victor commended the Federal and State governments, stating that the scheme had boosted grassroots economic activities. Beneficiaries also expressed gratitude, promising to use the support to strengthen their small businesses and improve household welfare.
