VP. Shettima Welcomes Swiss Vice President, Delegation in Abuja

Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, on Tuesday received the Vice President and Foreign Minister of Switzerland, Ignazio Cassis, along with members of a high-level delegation in Abuja.
The Swiss official arrived at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, where he was formally welcomed by Nigerian government representatives.
According to official sources, the visit is aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic relations between Nigeria and Switzerland, with key discussions expected to focus on trade, migration, and human capital development.
Both countries are also set to explore opportunities for deeper cooperation in areas such as development assistance, peacebuilding, and institutional partnerships.
Members of the Swiss delegation include senior diplomats and officials from Switzerland’s foreign affairs and development agencies, reflecting the strategic importance of the visit.
Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, was also present to receive the delegation and is expected to participate in bilateral engagements.
The visit underscores ongoing efforts by Nigeria to expand its international partnerships and attract investment while enhancing cooperation on global issues.
Further meetings and engagements are expected to continue in Abuja as both sides seek to solidify agreements and outline future collaboration frameworks.
