Ukraine Decorates Diaspora Leaders for Advancing Global Support and Sovereignty

President Volodymyr Zelensky has conferred state honours on prominent figures within the global Ukrainian community in recognition of their efforts to strengthen international backing for Ukraine and defend its sovereignty.
According to information released by the World Congress of Ukrainians, the awards acknowledge sustained contributions to interstate cooperation, advocacy for Ukraine’s territorial integrity, and extensive humanitarian and charitable initiatives. The recognition underscores Kyiv’s appreciation for diaspora leaders who have amplified Ukraine’s position on the international stage.
Among those honoured with the Order of Merit, III Class, are Huto Pashko, a Brazil-based film director and co-founder of GP7 Cinema; Petro Revka, head of the Union of Ukrainians in Great Britain; and Miroslava Skirko, who leads the Union of Ukrainians in Poland.
The Order of Princess Olga was presented to several female diaspora leaders for their civic and cultural engagement. Victoria Petrovska, head of the Unity Association in Hungary, received the II Class distinction.
Maria Khrystyna Zinko, Vice President of the Ukrainian Central Representation in Argentina, and Darya Russu, a journalist with Moldova 1 and head of the Ptashka association, were each awarded the III Class honour.
Ihor Mihalchysyn, former executive director of the Ukrainian Congress of Canada, was decorated with the presidential Cross of Ivan Mazepa for his longstanding service.
In addition, prominent diaspora figure Stefan Romaniw was posthumously recognised on Australia Day with the “Knight of the Great Heart” award, honouring decades of international advocacy and commitment to Ukraine
The global Ukrainian body congratulated the recipients, stating that their work has reinforced Ukraine’s voice worldwide and fostered solidarity across nations at a critical moment for the country.
