Diaspora representatives from across the Turkic World convened in Vienna from January 13–14, 2026, for the third Diaspora Capacity Building Training Program, aimed at strengthening connections and collaboration among communities in Europe. The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to enhance the visibility and influence of Turkic diasporas internationally.
The program began with a cultural gala featuring performances by renowned Turkic artists at a local concert hall. Diplomats, heads of diaspora institutions, and representatives of international organizations attended the event, which showcased the unifying power of culture and emphasized its role in promoting understanding and solidarity among communities abroad.
The following day, sessions were held at the Azerbaijan Cultural Center, where officials including the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) and ambassadors from Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Kyrgyzstan delivered opening remarks. They highlighted the strategic importance of diaspora engagement for strengthening people-to-people ties and promoting shared cultural heritage.
During the training, delegates from member and observer states presented national approaches and shared best practices in diaspora engagement. Interactive workshops facilitated discussions on youth involvement, public diplomacy, and community resilience, providing a platform for participants to exchange ideas and experiences.
Participants emphasized the need for coordinated action and stronger networks among Turkic diaspora organizations. The program encouraged collaboration across borders, aiming to empower communities and expand the role of diaspora institutions in supporting cultural, social, and diplomatic initiatives.
The event concluded with a collective photo and reaffirmation of shared goals. Organizers noted that the program represents a significant step in building a structured, connected, and empowered Turkic diaspora network, aligning with the OTS’s long-term vision of unity, solidarity, and sustainable cooperation.
