Tanzania Eases Visa Process for Nigerians
Tanzania has eased its visa process for Nigerian travellers by removing Nigeria from its Referred Visa Category, allowing applicants to use the country’s regular visa application procedures.
The previous arrangement required Nigerian nationals to obtain approval from the Office of the Commissioner General of Immigration before travelling to Tanzania. Applicants were also advised to submit their requests at least two months before their planned travel dates.
With the new arrangement, Nigerians can apply through Tanzania’s standard visa channels. Applications can be submitted online through the official immigration portal, while visas may also be obtained on arrival at designated entry points.
For Nigerians travelling to Tanzania for tourism, the applicable document is an Ordinary Visa. The visa costs $50 and can allow a stay of up to 90 days, subject to the conditions attached to the visa.
Tanzania’s immigration authorities recommend applying online before travelling. Regular online applications are generally processed within 10 days, and travellers are advised to wait for their approval or Visa Grant Notice before beginning their journey.
Applicants must have a passport valid for at least six months and with at least one unused visa page. Travellers may also be required to present a return ticket when they arrive in Tanzania.
The Tanzania Immigration Services Department has advised applicants to use only its official online visa platform and noted that visa requirements and conditions may be changed when necessary.
