Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto received a warm welcome from members of the Indonesian community shortly after arriving in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday for an official visit to the United States.
At his hotel, diaspora members, students, and embassy staff gathered to greet him, many dressed in traditional attire and batik.
A young girl presented the president with flowers, while others waved Indonesian flags and offered words of welcome.
Prabowo moved through the crowd shaking hands and expressing appreciation. He also greeted Indonesian military officers studying in the U.S.
The president arrived earlier at Joint Base Andrews, where he was received by senior diplomatic and military officials.
He is scheduled to meet American business leaders, attend the Gaza Board of Peace summit, and hold bilateral talks with Donald Trump, including discussions on a reciprocal trade agreement under negotiation since 2025.
