First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on Nigerians living abroad to play a more active role in the country’s development by leveraging their resources, expertise, and networks to support ongoing national rebuilding efforts.

She made the call on Friday while receiving Dr. Phillips Ozuah, a renowned Nigerian-American paediatrician and President/CEO of Montefiore Medicine, at the State House in Abuja.
Mrs. Tinubu lauded Dr. Ozuah’s accomplishments in the United States and praised his commitment to giving back to his home country, particularly his support for the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan his alma mater.

We are proud a Nigerian is excelling in the USA. It is commendable that you’ve supported your alma mater, UCH Ibadan,” she said. “Starting with education is significant. Through the Renewed Hope Initiative, we are doing a lot to promote education.”
The First Lady also acknowledged the role of diaspora Nigerians in enhancing the country’s global reputation, noting that their engagement can be instrumental in driving positive change at home.
“We encourage more Nigerians abroad to channel their skills and resources toward national progress,” she added.
Dr. Ozuah expressed gratitude to Mrs. Tinubu for her leadership and commitment to health and education, highlighting the Renewed Hope Initiative’s focus on maternal and child health.
“I am inspired by the First Lady’s impactful work in health and education,” he said, pledging to partner with the initiative to broaden its reach, especially in support of women and children.
The Renewed Hope Initiative, championed by the First Lady, has become a key platform for driving social welfare and development programs across Nigeria, with a particular emphasis on healthcare, education, and vulnerable populations.
