A Nigerian woman, Oluranti Akinyemi, has passed away in the United Kingdom just days after travelling to attend her son’s graduation ceremony.

Family sources disclosed that she arrived in the UK on February 11 in anticipation of the event scheduled for February 18. However, within 20 hours of her arrival, she reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest and was rushed to the Luton and Dunstable Hospital for emergency treatment.

She was placed on life support but was pronounced clinically dead on February 14 after medical efforts to stabilise her condition proved unsuccessful.

The tragic development has left the family devastated, as what was meant to be a moment of celebration turned into mourning. All four of her children reside in the UK.

Relatives are now seeking financial assistance to repatriate her remains to Nigeria for burial, offset medical expenses incurred in the UK, and cover funeral arrangements.

Friends and members of the Nigerian community have begun rallying support for the grieving family as they navigate the unexpected loss.
