Nigerian in Diaspora Lauded for Supporting Youth through Sports

The Chairman/CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has commended the Daniel Ford Foundation for its commitment to empowering young Nigerians through sports and philanthropy.
Speaking as the Special Guest of Honour at the Daniel Ford International Elite Table Tennis Tournament, held at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos, she highlighted the importance of such initiatives in fostering youth development and community impact.
The tournament, sponsored by Mr. Yemi Edun, founder of Daniel Ford International, brought together talented young athletes from across the country, providing them with a platform to showcase their skills. Dabiri-Erewa praised Edun for his dedication to creating opportunities for Nigerian youths and called on other Nigerians in the diaspora to replicate similar efforts in supporting communities both at home and abroad.
She also acknowledged the Lagos State Government for its role in providing an enabling environment for the event and urged public-spirited individuals and organizations to invest in similar initiatives that promote talent discovery and societal development.
The tournament concluded with Abdulfatai Abdulbasit of Kwara State winning the Under-19 Boys' category, while Ayoola Kabirat of Lagos State triumphed in the Under-19 Girls' category. The two-day event served as a platform to uncover new talents and inspire young Nigerians to pursue excellence in sports.
In his remarks, Mr. Yemi Edun expressed his gratitude to Dabiri-Erewa for her support and reiterated his commitment to youth-focused programs. "The goal is to continue empowering the next generation of leaders through impactful initiatives like this," he said.
