Nigeria Urges Diaspora to Drive Investment as Nigeria-Saudi Exhibition Opens in Abuja

The Federal Government has called on Nigerians living in Saudi Arabia to play a greater role in attracting investment and strengthening economic ties between both countries.
The appeal was made at the opening of the second Nigeria-Saudi Diaspora Investment and Tourism Exhibition in Abuja, where government officials highlighted the critical role of the diaspora in promoting trade, tourism and business opportunities.
Representing Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senior Adviser on Export Expansion, Aliyu Bunu Sheriff, said Nigeria and Saudi Arabia have significant untapped opportunities for economic cooperation despite their long-standing relationship. He encouraged investors and members of the Nigerian diaspora to take advantage of reforms designed to improve the country's investment climate.
Shettima pointed to opportunities in Nigeria's growing halal economy, including agriculture, livestock, Islamic banking and finance, food production, pharmaceuticals and tourism, describing them as key sectors for collaboration with Saudi investors and Nigerians abroad.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, urged Nigerians residing in Saudi Arabia to see themselves as ambassadors of the country and active contributors to national development through investment, business partnerships and knowledge transfer..
He said the Tinubu administration's Renewed Hope Agenda is focused on improving the ease of doing business, strengthening human capital development and creating an environment that supports both local and foreign investment.
Kaduna State also used the event to showcase its investment potential. Represented by Commissioner for Business, Innovation and Technology, Mrs. Patience Fakai, Governor Uba Sani said the state is expanding opportunities in agriculture, mining, infrastructure and tourism, while encouraging Saudi investors and members of the diaspora to explore its growing economy.
The Nigeria-Saudi Diaspora Investment and Tourism Exhibition is expected to strengthen business links between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia while providing a platform for diaspora engagement, investment promotion and tourism development.
The exhibition continues at the Shehu Musa Yar'Adua Centre in Abuja, bringing together government officials, investors, business leaders and members of the Nigerian diaspora to explore new opportunities for bilateral cooperation.
