The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed the death of Ambassador Taofik Obasanjo Coker, Nigeria’s Consul General in Buea, Cameroon.
Ambassador Coker reportedly died on Saturday, August 16, 2025, after a brief illness. The ministry announced the development in a statement issued Wednesday by its spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa.
Describing Coker as a distinguished career diplomat, the ministry highlighted his years of service to Nigeria in various missions, including postings in Conakry, Guinea, and Shanghai, China, before assuming duty as Consul General in Buea.
His death, according to the ministry, represents a major loss to the diplomatic community and the nation. Condolences have been extended to his family, friends, and colleagues, alongside prayers for the peaceful repose of his soul.
