President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR has urged Nigerians diaspora to be part of building the Economy of the Nation by investing in SME as it is essential for the country's prosperity.
The president who was represented by the secretary to the Federation George Akume, stated this on Tuesday 5th of November 2024 at the 7th Nigeria Nigeria diaspora investment summit organised by Nigeria in the diaspora Commission and Nigeria diaspora investment initiative in Abuja.
The president commended Nigerians in diaspora for being an indispensable Asset and touch bearer of the Nation and recognise the immerse effort diasporas input to ensure a Brighter future for the Nation through their various craft and expertise .
He urged the diaspora to join hands with the Government as their involvement is essential and he stated that the current administration is open to doing business with the diaspora to achieve its mission of stabilisation and growth of the economy.
The president further Noted that the Government has put in place strong approach to handle security insurgency such as Employing 30,000 police officers Annually, investing in drones, surveillance System , modern Armour vehicle and weaponry to enhance security and create an enabling environment that would Foster Growth in all key investment areas and ensure returns of investment for those Willing to Invest.
He informed that his administration has tried Stabilisation of the economy through the removal of the fuel subsidy that has helped the administration To invest 10 billion dollars in order Key investment areas
Although this bold reform has brought challenges the Government has introduced the (CNG) compressed natural gas which will reduce the cost of Transportation by 60 percent, and will also create new jobs at the Convention centres and refueling stations therefore improving the economy
furthermore initiatives have been created for vehicle owners to Convert to CNG now and pay later through easy and flexible payment plans and 2,000 CNG tricycles will be given to youths Nation wide and all government ministries are now mandated to purchase CNG powered vehicles.
The president Commended the CEO of Nigeria in Diaspora Commission Honourable Abike Dabiri Arewa for her outstanding leadership and unwavering commitment to this initiative and also the Nigerian Diaspora Summit Initiative for laying a strong foundation for meaningful investment. He also noted that pitchers have the support of the administration and promise to help navigate the journey ahead.
