The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) will unveil a new Diaspora Home and Abroad Platform at the sixth edition of National Diaspora Day (NDD), scheduled for July 25 and 26 at the State House Conference Centre, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, NiDCOM Chairman/CEO Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa said the housing platform aims to provide Nigerians living abroad with credible, secure, and accessible real estate opportunities back home.
“This year’s celebration is focused on practical engagement,” Dabiri-Erewa stated. “In 2024 alone, Nigerians abroad remitted over $20 billion more than the country’s total foreign direct investment. But even more valuable is their knowledge, expertise, and global exposure, which we must harness for national development.”

Themed "Optimising Formidable Diaspora Potentials for National Development and Growth," the 2025 event is expected to attract over 1,200 in-person attendees and thousands of virtual participants worldwide. A group of 25 African American guests will also join the Abuja event, reinforcing renewed bonds between Nigeria and the broader African diaspora.
NiDCOM's ongoing efforts to institutionalise diaspora engagement include the establishment of Diaspora Focal Point Officers in Nigerian states, the adoption of the National Diaspora Policy, the Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit (NDIS), and the current Diaspora Data Mapping project.
A key feature of this year’s celebration is the Youth Empowerment STEM Summit, which will involve students from 14 Abuja-based schools. According to Local Organising Committee Chair, Mr. Abiodun Akanbi, over 500 young participants are expected to take part in the session focused on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
The two-day hybrid event will feature plenary sessions, investment forums, strategic networking, and will conclude with the prestigious National Diaspora Merit Awards, recognising outstanding Nigerians making global impact.
