The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has applauded the outstanding achievements of three artistes of Nigerian heritage, Shaboozey, Tyler, the Creator, and Cynthia Erivo , following their victories at the 2026 Grammy Awards.

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Commission, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, described the triumphs as a defining moment for Nigeria and its global community. She said the recognition reflects the far-reaching influence of Nigerian talent across international creative industries.

Dabiri-Erewa noted that Shaboozey, born Collins Obinna Chibueze; Tyler, the Creator, born Tyler Gregory Okonma; and Cynthia Erivo, born Cynthia Chinasaokwu Onyedinmanazu Amarachukwu Owezuke Echimino Erivo, have consistently demonstrated excellence in their respective fields. According to her, their Grammy wins highlight the strength of Nigerian heritage expressed through music and performance on the world stage.

She emphasized that the accomplishments extend beyond individual success, representing a broader celebration of Nigerians and people of Nigerian descent making significant contributions globally. The Commission maintained that such milestones reinforce the nation’s cultural relevance in contemporary entertainment.

The NiDCOM boss also acknowledged the sustained global impact of Nigeria-based artistes including Davido, Burna Boy, Ayra Starr and Wizkid, whose works continue to push Nigerian music to wider audiences.

While the Grammy-winning stars are based abroad, Dabiri-Erewa stressed that their roots remain firmly tied to Nigeria through family lineage and cultural identity. She said their achievements continue to amplify the country’s creative footprint internationally.

She called on Nigerians at home and overseas to take pride in the accomplishments of compatriots wherever they reside, urging greater unity in celebrating national success stories.
