Moldova’s Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu is scheduled to meet members of the Moldovan community in Brussels on November 18, as part of an outreach effort tied to his official visit to the Belgian capital. The gathering will take place in the evening at the Saint-Gilles Town Hall, offering diaspora members an opportunity to discuss national developments and Moldova’s European aspirations directly with the head of government.

The meetup coincides with the Prime Minister’s participation in the European Union Enlargement Forum, a high-level event focused on the future of EU expansion and its impact on regional security. The forum will convene political leaders, civil society representatives, youth delegates, and experts from EU member and candidate states to examine how enlargement can reinforce stability in a period marked by heightened geopolitical tensions.

Discussions will emphasize the strategic significance of expanding the EU, particularly in the context of ongoing security threats linked to Russia’s war against Ukraine and persistent vulnerabilities in the Eastern Neighborhood and Western Balkans. Munteanu is expected to reaffirm Moldova’s determination to advance reforms and strengthen democratic institutions as part of its EU integration goals.

The event will open with remarks from the European Commission President delivered via video, followed by an address from the EU Commissioner responsible for enlargement. Munteanu will participate in the forum’s first panel, which includes senior European and regional officials working on defense, diplomacy, and integration policies.

During the panel, the Moldovan leader is anticipated to highlight the importance of EU enlargement as a safeguard for security and democratic resilience, while underscoring Moldova’s commitment to aligning its governance structures with European standards. His contributions are also expected to draw attention to the country’s ongoing transformation efforts amid a challenging geopolitical environment.

The Brussels visit, combining diplomatic engagement with diaspora-focused dialogue, forms part of Moldova’s broader strategy to strengthen public trust, deepen European partnerships, and maintain strong ties with its citizens abroad.
