Lagos Set to Host 11th Access Bank Lagos City Marathon

The Lagos State Government has announced its readiness to host the 11th edition of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, scheduled for February 14, 2026, as part of efforts to position the state as a leading sports and tourism destination in Africa

This year’s marathon will feature a 42-kilometre race along a newly designed route beginning at ORCA Mall on Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, and passing through sections of the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road. The route is designed to showcase major landmarks, including the iconic Eko Atlantic City.
Over 100,000 participants are expected to compete in both the full marathon and the 10-kilometre fun run. The 42km race will commence at 6:30 a.m. and conclude at noon, while the 10km race will begin at 9:30 a.m. and also close at 12:00 p.m., ensuring effective coordination and safety.
Winners of the elite 42km race in both the men’s and women’s categories will receive prize money of up to $50,000, with rewards extending to the eighth position. Nigerian athletes will also compete for cash prizes ranging from ₦2 million for first place to ₦50,000 for lower finishers, reinforcing local participation and competitiveness.

The Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, a Gold Label race consistently hosted for over a decade, has further established Lagos as a global sports destination. Beyond competition, the event promotes healthy living, tourism, and international visibility, strengthening Lagos’ reputation as Africa’s heartbeat for road racing and active lifestyles.
