The Government of Kenya has officially launched the Kenya Diaspora Policy 2024—an ambitious and forward-looking framework aimed at enhancing the role of the country’s over 4 million diaspora members in driving national growth and development.
Building on the foundations of the 2014 Diaspora Policy, the new policy seeks to deepen diaspora engagement by recognizing and supporting their contributions in areas such as investment, skills transfer, technology, and innovation. It also emphasizes the government's renewed commitment to safeguarding the rights and welfare of Kenyans living abroad.
The launch was spearheaded by Principal Secretary for Diaspora Affairs, Roseline Njogu, who received praise for her leadership in coordinating the policy’s development. The initiative was made possible through collaboration with key partners, including the Parliament’s Defence, Intelligence, and Foreign Relations Committee, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and a wide network of stakeholders.
The Kenya Diaspora Policy 2024 marks a significant milestone in bridging the gap between the diaspora and the homeland, positioning diaspora communities as central players in Kenya’s socio-economic transformation.
