The Israeli government is set to deliver four million shekels (approximately $1.27 million) in aid to Jewish communities across Ukraine, the Ministry for Diaspora Affairs and Combating Antisemitism announced Thursday.
With war-damaged energy infrastructure and extreme winter conditions leaving many without power, the support will fund stays in heated hotels and guesthouses, hot meals, and essential services.
The initiative, run in partnership with Jewish organizations including Chabad, the Jewish Agency, and the Federations, aims to help thousands of Jews endure the harsh season.
Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli emphasized Israel’s commitment to global Jewish communities, noting the aid reflects “mutual responsibility” and ongoing support during crises.
The program underscores Israel’s broader mission to protect and assist its diaspora in emergencies, ensuring basic needs are met amid challenging conditions.
