India’s ambassador to Qatar, Shri Vipul, has reassured the large Indian community in the Gulf nation that there is no widespread panic despite growing tensions following the Iran conflict that has affected parts of the region.
The envoy said the embassy responded swiftly after the crisis began by establishing round-the-clock helplines and a dedicated control centre to assist Indian nationals facing travel disruptions or emergencies.
Qatar hosts about 830,000 Indians, making them the largest expatriate community in the country. Concerns rose among residents and travellers after flights were briefly disrupted and some transit passengers were stranded at Doha’s airport.
According to the embassy, airlines arranged accommodation for affected travellers while diplomatic officials coordinated with Qatari authorities and Indian community organisations to provide support.
The embassy has also facilitated urgent passport services for citizens needing to travel quickly and created registration platforms for those seeking to return home due to family emergencies.
Officials say more than 4,000 people have already travelled on available flights, while others used alternative routes through neighbouring countries.
Ambassador Vipul emphasised that essential supplies such as food and medicine remain stable in Qatar and that authorities have continued to provide security updates and assistance to residents.
He urged members of the Indian diaspora to remain calm and follow official advisories, noting that the community has shown resilience and solidarity during previous crises.
