Indian Diaspora Marks 77th Republic Day With Global Celebrations

The Indian diaspora across the world marked India’s 77th Republic Day on Monday with widespread celebrations, flag hoisting ceremonies, cultural performances, and patriotic gatherings at Indian missions abroad.
In Beijing, the Indian ambassador led the Republic Day ceremony, where the national flag was raised and India’s President address was read aloud to attendees. The event also featured patriotic slogans and a strong display of national pride.
In Shanghai, the Indian consulate hosted a large gathering attended by hundreds of Indian residents, members of the local community, and diplomats. The celebration included a flag hoisting ceremony followed by cultural presentations.
Across the United States, India’s Republic Day was also recognized at official levels, with senior US officials extending warm greetings and emphasizing the deepening partnership between the two nations, particularly in areas such as defence, energy, and technology.
In the United Kingdom, King Charles III sent his congratulations to India, highlighting the enduring ties between India and the UK and congratulating India on securing the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad.
Singapore hosted a vibrant Republic Day event led by India’s High Commissioner, featuring performances by students from Indian schools and a special appearance by the Sarang helicopter team, which is scheduled to participate in the upcoming Singapore Airshow.
In Japan, India’s embassy held a formal ceremony where the national flag was hoisted, followed by the national anthem and the reading of the President’s message.
In Sri Lanka, the Indian High Commissioner led the flag hoisting at India House and paid tribute at the Indian Peace Keeping Force memorial. The ceremony included cultural performances and messages of friendship from Sri Lankan political leaders.
Across all locations, the celebrations reflected strong national pride and highlighted the global presence and unity of the Indian community abroad.
