Governor Makinde Set to Begin Community Engagement on Circular Road, Promises Adequate Compensation

Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring that all ongoing development projects are carried out in a fair, humane, and community-focused manner.

The governor made this known during a gathering in Ibadan, where he announced plans to commence direct engagement with residents affected by the 110-kilometre Senator Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road project.

Makinde explained that beginning Wednesday, he would embark on visits to communities along the project corridor, starting from Ologuneru, to hear residents’ concerns and discuss options for appropriate compensation and possible resettlement.

He stressed that his government remains committed to a people-centred approach that places the welfare and dignity of citizens at the core of every developmental decision.

The governor assured residents that the administration would maintain transparency and fairness throughout the process, noting that meaningful consultation is essential to achieving equitable development.

“So let me once again speak to our fathers and mothers, brothers and sisters affected by the Rashidi-Ladoja Circular Road development. We acknowledge that progress must be people-centered and we remain committed to ensuring that development remains fair, humane, and inclusive,” he said.

“So I will honour the promise that I made to visit, to listen, and to explore all possibilities including resettlements, in addition to adequate compensation. And I will start this week.”

Makinde noted that the Circular Road project goes beyond improving transportation, describing it as a strategic investment in equity, economic expansion, and shared prosperity for the entire state.
