
Today the 28th of October 2024, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu formally opened the museum in the J Randle Centre for Yoruba Heritage and Culture, located in Onikan, Lagos. This long-anticipated museum is now accessible to the public, offering an immersive experience into the history, art, and culture of the Yoruba people.
The museum forms a central part of the J Randle Centre, which was officially commissioned last year. Visitors will find an impressive array of historical artifacts and cultural treasures that celebrate Yoruba heritage. From intricate artworks to relics that tell the story of the Yoruba civilization, the museum aims to serve as a valuable resource for education and cultural appreciation, especially for younger generations.
In addition to opening the museum, Governor Sanwo-Olu announced the appointment of Mr. Qudus Onikeku as the new Director of the J Randle Centre. Mr. Onikeku, a prominent figure in arts and cultural preservation, is expected to bring his expertise and passion for heritage to the Centre, enhancing its role as a beacon of Yoruba culture.
