The German Embassy Abuja has announced the opening of applications for a full-time administrative position within its political department, offering an opportunity for qualified candidates to work closely on diplomatic and policy-related activities.
In a notice released on Monday, the embassy stated that it is seeking to hire a case worker for its political unit. The role is structured as a 40-hour-per-week position, with the successful applicant expected to resume duties as soon as possible. While the initial contract will run for one year, there is a possibility of long-term employment based on performance and organisational needs.
According to the embassy, the role involves monitoring developments across traditional and digital media platforms, maintaining contacts with political actors, and supporting the execution of diplomatic initiatives and internal projects.
The selected candidate will also be tasked with organising official events such as conferences, policy briefings, and stakeholder meetings. In addition, the role includes conducting in-depth research on political, economic, and social developments relevant to Germany’s diplomatic engagement in Nigeria.
To qualify, applicants must hold at least a bachelor’s degree in disciplines such as law, economics, political science, international relations, or related fields. Strong analytical and communication skills are also expected.
Language proficiency is a key requirement for the role. Candidates must demonstrate a high level of fluency in English, alongside at least an intermediate command of German, reflecting the operational needs of the embassy.
Interested applicants are required to submit their application documents via email. These include a cover letter and curriculum vitae written in German, academic certificates, and, where applicable, letters of recommendation.
The application window will remain open until April 30, 2026. The embassy indicated that shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in a selection process scheduled to take place in Abuja between May and June.
It further clarified that only successful candidates will be contacted following the selection process and that the embassy will not cover travel expenses incurred during interviews. The mission also encouraged qualified female candidates to apply for the role as part of its commitment to diversity and inclusion.
