Federal government opens old MMA terminal to ease flight disruptions

The D Wing of the old international terminal at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos has been officially reopened by the Federal Government. This step aims to improve the efficiency of air travel and address the challenges faced by both travelers and airlines in Nigeria. The Minister of Aviation, Mr. Festus Keyamo, announced the reopening after the terminal underwent renovation.

Keyamo had ordered airlines to relocate to the new terminal on October 1, 2023 but FAAN on Wednesday forcefully relocated the international carriers to the facility.

On the same day when a fire incident occurred in the baggage hall of MMIA, the FAAN decided to relocate the foreign carriers due to the fire incident and power supply issues. However, FAAN is actively addressing the situation. The D Wing is now being used for passenger processing.
