Norman Busigu has never been one to fit inside neat labels. The British-Ugandan award-winning filmmaker, broadcaster, journalist, and model is proving that a multi hyphenate career can also be deeply purposeful. From documentary sets to London fashion runways, from press rooms at Cannes to panel discussions at Soho House, Busigu has built an empire around one mission: connecting African and Caribbean stories with the world.

Raised in North West London, Busigu’s passion for communication began early. Inspired by broadcasters such as Sir Trevor McDonald and Reggie Yates, he honed his oratory skills in school debating clubs, Model United Nations events, and spoken-word performances at Queen Mary University London, where he studied Law. Those years gave him the confidence to navigate stages, studios, and screens with ease.

His big break came in 2019 at the Screen Nation Awards, where an encounter led to his first television assignment with BEN TV. By 2020, Busigu had become their first International News Correspondent, later collaborating with Yanga! TV on the legal programme Know Your Rights. Alongside television, he built a reputation for hosting high-profile events at venues including the UK Houses of Parliament and the International Design Awards.

As a filmmaker, Busigu created Our World with Norman Busigu, an infotainment docu-series, and went on to direct acclaimed documentaries such as Ghana: Africa’s Exciting Entry Point? and Nigeria: Can Its Youth Shape Its Future?. These projects have been screened in Europe, the U.S., and Ghana, earning praise from Soho House, Vogue’s Deborah Ababio, and the Ghanaian High Commission.

In 2025, Busigu expanded into journalism and entrepreneurship with Postcards From The Diaspora (PFTD)  a media platform and PR hub supporting African and Caribbean creatives. PFTD has already covered major events like SXSW London, Cannes Lions, Africa Fashion Week London, and the EMY Africa Rising Symposium, while helping brands craft stories that resonate across continents.

“Don’t allow anyone to box or limit you,” Busigu says. “Everything I do interconnects that’s how real impact happens.”

Fashion remains part of his portfolio. Since winning the Fashion4Africa UK competition in 2018, he has walked London Fashion Week runways, modelled for Soho House’s Soho Skin campaign, and represented Nigerian brand David Wej at London Represents SS23.

Looking ahead, Busigu is preparing Jamaica: Africa’s Close Cousin?, a new docu-film developed with British Airways, and gearing up for appearances at AFRICON in Georgia and the Forbes BLK Summit at Morehouse College. Through PFTD, he is also intent on creating sustainable systems that ensure fair pay for creatives and build a robust bridge between Africa and its diaspora.

Norman Busigu embodies the modern African storyteller: versatile, grounded, and committed to amplifying voices that deserve the world’s attention. For him, the journey is just beginning and it promises to redefine how global audiences engage with Africa’s cultural and entrepreneurial future.
