CBN Alerts Nigerians of Fake Contract Award Letters

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has issued a public alert regarding fraudulent activities involving forged contract award letters and special financial intervention claims falsely attributed to the Bank.

In a statement signed by Mrs. Hakama Sidi Ali, Acting Director of Corporate Communication, the CBN dismissed the circulating letters as fake, warning Nigerians to disregard such claims.

“These letters are the work of fraudsters seeking to deceive and defraud unsuspecting members of the public,” the statement said.

The Bank emphasized that it has ceased direct development interventions and funding for special projects, in line with the current management’s focus. Additionally, the CBN clarified that it has not issued public notices on social media or other outlets regarding such activities.

Reaffirming its commitment to monetary stability and a sound financial system, the CBN urged Nigerians to remain cautious and report suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.
