The All Progressives Congress (APC) Diaspora Chapter in Italy has thrown its weight behind the newly appointed National Chairman of the party, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, pledging full support for his leadership and vision.
In a congratulatory message jointly signed by the Protem Chairman, Okpioba Iredia Osakue, and Assistant General Secretary, Mr. Benedict Obafueko, the chapter described Yilwatda’s appointment as a “prestigious milestone” that reflects his dedication and service to the party.
“We wish to extend our profound congratulations on your appointment as the new Chairman of the APC in Nigeria. This prestigious appointment is a testament to your dedication, leadership, and commitment to the party’s ideals and values,” the statement read.

The chapter expressed optimism that Yilwatda’s leadership would bring unity and accelerated growth to the APC, especially as it prepares for the 2027 general elections.
Meanwhile, Senator Ita Enang, a former Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari, urged the new chairman to reposition the party for the future.
Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Abuja, Enang said Yilwatda’s appointment comes at a critical juncture for the party and emphasized the need for strategic internal reforms.
“This is a time when your experience as an engineer is most needed to re-engineer the internal workings and political direction of the APC,” Enang stated.
He also advised Yilwatda to review the circumstances surrounding the resignation of past party leaders, Abdullahi Adamu and Abdullahi Ganduje, to avoid repeating similar pitfalls.
Enang further praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his strategic leadership and urged the APC to maintain internal balance by acknowledging loyal party members alongside new entrants.
“There must be a deliberate balance perhaps a 50-50 or 40-60 sharing formula between legacy members and new entrants when it comes to power, party positions, and opportunities,” he said.
Enang also commented on the emergence of opposition coalitions like the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing them as a “strategic advantage” for the APC.
“They serve as early warning systems, exposing public sentiments and opposition strategies that we can now address ahead of time,” he concluded.

Yilwatda, a former gubernatorial candidate in Plateau State, succeeds Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, who stepped down citing health reasons.
