"Africa's Success Vital For Global Economy"- IMF

The Managing Director of the IMF, Kristalina Georgieva, emphasized that the global economy's prosperity in the 21st century hinges on Africa's prosperity.

She conveyed this message during her 2023 Annual Meetings Curtain Raiser Speech in Côte d’Ivoire, ahead of the IMF/World Bank 2023 Annual Meetings in Morocco.

Ms. Georgieva highlighted the importance of connecting the abundant capital in advanced economies with Africa's vast human resources to stimulate global economic growth.

Additionally, she stressed the need for economic resilience, especially in the face of various global challenges, and the significance of international cooperation as the key bridge for prosperity in Africa.

In terms of the global economic outlook, she acknowledged its resilience but noted challenges such as weak growth and increasing divergence. Ms. Georgieva identified three policy priorities for countries to foster stronger future economic growth.
