Adidas and its Nigerian franchise partner, LATC, have donated 200 footballs to public schools across Lagos State, reinforcing their shared commitment to youth development, gender inclusion, and grassroots sports.

The donation carried out in collaboration with the Lagos State Sports Commission will reach 20 schools, with an equal distribution for male and female teams. The initiative promotes inclusive participation in school sports and aims to inspire the next generation of leaders, both on and off the field.

To officially flag off the initiative, Dave Thomas, CEO of adidas Global Emerging Markets, presented a symbolic football to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu during a courtesy visit.

“Sport has the power to shape the future,” said an adidas spokesperson. “This donation is more than equipment, it’s an investment in the dreams, health, and leadership potential of young boys and girls. Every child deserves the chance to play, grow, and thrive.”

LATC emphasized that the initiative aligns with its mission to develop well-rounded students academically, physically, emotionally, and socially, through the unifying power of sport.

“School sports are a crucial tool for complete education,” noted Kingsley Oko, Chief Strategy Officer at LATC. “Beyond athletics, this initiative supports children to become more confident, focused, and healthier individuals.”

The Lagos State Sports Commission applauded the effort, describing it as a significant boost to grassroots sports and a step forward in strengthening gender equity within the state’s school sports programs.

By equipping schools with quality sports gear and promoting gender-balanced access, adidas and LATC are setting a strong example of how corporate partnerships can make a tangible difference in the lives of young Nigerians
