Adesanya Faces Three-Month Jail Term for DUI in New Zealand.

Israel Adesanya, the former UFC middleweight champion, has confessed to driving under the influence of alcohol in New Zealand, which could potentially result in a three-month incarceration.


The incident occurred on August 19 in Auckland as Adesanya encountered a Random Breath Testing unit on his way back from a dinner with friends. His blood alcohol level measured 87 milligrams per 100 milliliters, surpassing New Zealand's legal limit of 50 milligrams.


In a statement given to ESPN, he expressed regret for his actions and extended his apologies to the community, his family, and his team. Showing his remorse, he said

"I am disappointed with my decision to drive, it was wrong. I know that people might follow me and I want them to know I do not think this behavior is acceptable."


Adesanya faces the possibility of a fine up to $2,680 and/or a three-month jail term, with a sentencing hearing scheduled for January 10.
