Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has made a passionate appeal to the Okun people residing abroad to return home and take advantage of investment opportunities in Kogi State, particularly in the mining sector, which boasts over 200 active licenses.

Speaking during a stakeholder engagement with traditional and political leaders from Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area at the Lugard House in Lokoja, the governor emphasized the urgent need for unity and economic participation among the Okun people.

“Kabba is the first community I have officially received since assuming office,” Governor Ododo said. “I commend the people for their unity and unwavering support toward the progress of our state. Now is the time to harness our mineral wealth , gold, lithium, and more for sustainable development.”

Governor Ododo also highlighted the link between resource abundance and rising security concerns in the area, pledging his administration’s full commitment to securing all parts of the state. He disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had approved the deployment of a helicopter to bolster the state’s security architecture.

In his remarks, Kabba-Bunu Local Government Chairman, Hon. Zacchaeus Dare Michael, praised Governor Ododo’s proactive governance and confirmed that the people of the area had unanimously adopted him as their preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship election.

“There is a new wave of unity among the Kabba clans. We stand more united than ever, and we are committed to supporting this administration,” Dare Michael stated.

Elder Statesman, Chief Benjamin Oludola, who led the delegation, also commended the governor’s strides in infrastructure, healthcare, and timely salary payments, affirming that the current administration’s impact is already being felt by the people.

The meeting concluded with a renewed pledge by stakeholders to work with the state government in fostering development, peace, and prosperity across Okunland and Kogi State at large.
