The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission has formalised a new partnership with InnoPower Africa to expand access to remote employment for young Nigerians. The agreement, signed in Abuja, is positioned as a major step in the Federal Government’s wider effort to confront the country’s persistent youth unemployment crisis.

Under the initiative, qualified Nigerian professionals will be connected to job openings in diaspora-owned companies across the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. The programme is designed to give young people direct access to global workspaces without the need for physical migration, aligning with global trends in remote and hybrid employment.

NIDCOM’s leadership says the partnership reflects the Commission’s mission to channel diaspora expertise, networks, and resources into national development. By connecting Nigerian youths with diaspora business owners, the Commission believes it can deepen economic ties and strengthen local capacity.

The Commission also stressed that Nigerians abroad are increasingly becoming employers and investors who can influence job creation back home. Through the collaboration with InnoPower Africa, they aim to institutionalise this role and create a structured pathway for ongoing engagement.

For InnoPower Africa, the agreement underscores its belief in the competitiveness and reliability of Nigerian talent. Founder Emil Ekiyor described Nigerian youths as innovative and capable of delivering world-class results, noting that the partnership will translate their skills into tangible opportunities.

He added that the project is expected to generate practical job placements rather than theoretical programmes, ensuring that participants gain economically meaningful experiences. The organisation plans to work with NIDCOM to identify sectors where Nigerian youths can immediately add value.

Senior officials from both sides, including legal advisers and technical teams, witnessed the signing of the memorandum. Their presence signalled the commitment of both institutions to drive the programme beyond paperwork and into implementation.

The partnership is expected to roll out in phases, with initial placements scheduled to begin after a coordinated screening and onboarding process. Both organisations say the goal is to build a long-term pipeline that positions Nigerian youths for sustainable global employment.
