LASTMA Averts Fire Disaster, Detains Tanker Driver in Lagos

In a recent incident on Tuesday, LASTMA (Lagos State Traffic Management Authority) effectively averted a potential fire explosion involving a petrol-laden tanker on the Stadium Bridge.

The incident occurred while the tanker was heading towards Barracks/Ojuelegba on Funsho Williams Avenue, within Surulere, Lagos.

A press statement from Adebayo Taofiq, the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment, confirmed that a Conoil tanker, carrying petroleum products, had overturned, spilling its contents across the opposite side of the expressway, impacting a Volkswagen Golf car.

To mitigate the risk of a fire explosion, LASTMA officials acted as the initial responders. They swiftly alerted other emergency response units, including the LASEMA Response Unit and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services.

Additionally, the driver of the Conoil tanker, identified as Sefiyu Adamu, was apprehended and subsequently handed over to the Police for further investigation.
