How to safeguard your Kidneys

Kidney failure and disease are on the rise among young people. Here are some ways to safeguard your kidneys at no cost. The kidneys are like the body's cleaners, they need to work as well as they should.

When the kidneys are damaged, they can't filter blood the way they should. They might not clean the blood or get rid of waste like they're supposed to.

Here are ways to help protect the kidneys:

1.Drinking water is essential for overall health, including kidney health.

Water helps to flush toxins out of the body and keep the kidneys functioning properly

2. Don't abuse pain medications especially NSAIDs, eg:Ibuprofen, felvin

NSAIDs can be safe when used as directed, but they can also be harmful to the kidneys if they are abused. Abuse of NSAIDs can lead to acute kidney injury (AKI), which is a sudden decline in kidney function.

3. Avoid ABUSE of herbal medicine

Agbo as it is called is often made with a combination of herbs, roots, and barks, many of which contain toxins that can damage the kidneys.

4. Avoid smoking

Smoking can damage your kidneys and make it harder for them to function properly.

5. Manage your blood pressure and blood sugar

High blood pressure and blood sugar can damage your kidneys over time.

6. Get regular exercise

Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise most days of the week. Maintain a healthy weight. Being overweight or obese can put extra strain on your kidneys.

7. Avoid alcohol consumption

Alcohol consumption can lead to dehydration, too much alcohol can also raise blood pressure to unhealthy levels.

It can cause damage to kidney cells, impairing their function and increasing the risk of kidney disease.

Prioritize and be concerned about your kidney health, talk to your doctor. They can test your kidney function and advise you on how to reduce your risk of kidney disease. Remember that health is wealth!
