President Konstantinos Tasoulas has sent a heartfelt message to Greeks worldwide in celebration of the 204th anniversary of the Greek War of Independence, emphasizing the diaspora’s enduring contributions to Greece’s history and future.
In his address on March 21, Tasoulas reflected on the 1821 Revolution as a beacon of freedom and democracy. He underscored the importance of unity in preserving Greece’s sovereignty and called on the global Greek community to continue championing Hellenic values.
Highlighting the diaspora’s historical impact, Tasoulas referenced key figures such as Rigas Feraios in Vienna, Adamantios Korais in Paris, and the Filiki Etairia’s founders in Odessa, all of whom played crucial roles in the Greek independence movement. He also acknowledged the contributions of Greek merchants and benefactors across Europe and beyond.

“The diaspora’s selfless efforts were invaluable then and remain so now,” he stated, commending Greeks abroad for maintaining their language, traditions, and national identity. He emphasized that their presence worldwide remains a source of strength and honor for Greece.
Tasoulas also reaffirmed Greece’s commitment to stability in the region and the ongoing struggle for a free and reunited Cyprus. He closed with a call for celebration on March 25, which coincides with the Feast of the Annunciation, wishing all Greeks health and prosperity.
