Edo Medical Association Hails Okpebholo’s Strategic Appointment of New Diaspora Agency DG

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Edo State chapter, has expressed strong support for Governor Monday Okpebholo's recent decision to appoint Dr. Loretta Ogboro-Okor as the Director General of the Edo State Diaspora Agency.

Describing the move as a progressive step, the NMA leadership highlighted the appointment as both a professional endorsement and a strategic investment in the state’s future. In a joint statement by its Chairman, Dr. Eustace Oseghale, and Secretary, Dr. Iluobe Inegbenosun, the association noted that Ogboro-Okor's selection reflects confidence in her track record and leadership capacity.
“Governor Okpebholo has made a commendable choice,” the statement read. “Dr. Ogboro-Okor’s appointment is not just a win for the medical profession but a signal that Edo is serious about leveraging diaspora resources for development.”

The association praised the new DG’s dedication to public service and expressed optimism that her tenure would unlock opportunities, especially in healthcare and community development. They also extended a public invitation for collaboration, particularly around medical outreach, training, and diaspora-driven investment in the state’s health infrastructure.
Beyond the congratulatory message to Ogboro-Okor, the NMA also celebrated two of its distinguished members , Dr. Godfrey Imuetiyan and Dr. Andrew Eigbedion on receiving the Distinguished Medical Practitioner (DMP) Award from the Association of Nigerian Medical Practitioners. The duo was recognized for their service excellence and contribution to healthcare in Edo.
The statement concluded with a reaffirmation of the NMA’s commitment to partnering with government institutions to improve the well-being of residents and make Edo a model of inclusive growth driven by professionals at home and abroad.
