The Nigerian government, through the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), has pledged its support for a major international conference focused on technology-driven development in Africa. The event , the Sustainability, Opportunity, Future, Technologies (S.O.F.T.) Conference is scheduled for July 29–30, 2025, in Dubai, United Arab Emirate

Organized by a consortium led by Dr. Godwin Aigboiose Omage, Chairman of GAF Africa and the Godwin Aigboviose Foundation, the conference is designed to unite African innovators with global investors, tech leaders, and policymakers.

In an official communication dated May 8, 2025, NiDCOM’s Chairperson and CEO, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, confirmed the Commission’s commitment to support the diaspora-focused segments of the event. She described the conference as timely and aligned with NiDCOM’s strategic goal of integrating Nigerians abroad into Africa’s development trajectory.

“This is a pivotal platform for stimulating Africa’s transformation through technology and sustainability. We are pleased to contribute in line with our mission to mobilize the diaspora for national growth,” Dabiri-Erewa stated.

The S.O.F.T. Conference will serve as a convergence point for entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, tech disruptors, and public sector leaders. Attendees will explore Africa’s investment potential in cutting-edge sectors like artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, clean energy, and financial technology.

Dr. Omage, who also heads Eki Co-Net, emphasized that the event is more than a gathering it’s an accelerator for long-term impact. He envisions it as a launchpad for forging cross-border partnerships, unlocking new funding pipelines, and showcasing how African nations can lead in climate-resilient innovation.

He further revealed that the conference has attracted interest from high-profile international participants who are committed to supporting sustainable initiatives aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

We aim to position Africa as a frontier of opportunity,” Omage said. “By convening billionaires, technologists, and decision-makers in one room, we’re creating the space for real investment in Africa’s future

With NiDCOM’s endorsement and the strong backing of development-oriented institutions, the S.O.F.T. Conference is poised to become a landmark moment in the continent’s journey toward inclusive, technology-led growth.
