A United States-based civic coalition, Big Thumb Network (BTN), has asserted that the will of Nigerians not the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) or the judiciary will ultimately determine the outcome of the 2027 general elections.

In a strongly worded communiqué following a roundtable co-hosted with Save Democracy Mega Alliance (SDMA) and the Indigenous Food Allied Processors Association Network (IFAPAN), BTN criticized what it described as a “spurious algebraic conspiracy” between INEC and the judiciary during the controversial 2023 electoral cycle. The group vowed such interference would not be tolerated in 2027.

The coalition announced its intention to collaborate with other political and civil society forces to drive systemic political change. “Big Thumb and her partners stand with the people and opposition forces to recalibrate the political binary for an undeniable and historic people’s victory in 2027,” the statement read.

Reacting to recent defections into the All Progressives Congress (APC), the group insisted that public dissatisfaction with the current administration far outweighs support for it.

BTN also highlighted Nigeria’s worsening humanitarian crisis, attributing the food emergency affecting over 31.8 million Nigerians in 2024 to terrorism, corruption, armed conflict, and economic mismanagement. It decried the “unrelenting bloodletting” caused by what it called orchestrated land-grabs by terrorists and armed herders.

The roundtable called on patriotic Nigerians to unite in a broad-based coalition aimed at rescuing the country from what it described as a failed and disconnected leadership
