Ultimate Health Management Services has unveiled a new health insurance initiative targeted at Nigerians living abroad. The scheme, called the Diaspora Health Insurance Programme, allows Nigerians in the diaspora to directly provide healthcare coverage for their dependents back home in Nigeria.
In a statement released on Sunday, the company’s Managing Director and CEO, Lekan Ewenla, emphasized the importance of the initiative, noting that many Nigerians abroad send money home for healthcare, but those funds are often diverted to other expenses like rent and food. As a result, many medical needs go unmet, sometimes leading to avoidable health crises and deaths.
“This programme removes the burden of out-of-pocket health spending and ensures that dependents in Nigeria receive timely and quality healthcare,” Ewenla stated. He praised the Federal Government’s push for mandatory health insurance, adding that it could significantly improve national health outcomes.
Ewenla also revealed that the programme is being rolled out in partnership with the Africa Diaspora Corporation and the United States Africa Trade Commission. The goal is to reach more Nigerians abroad and introduce them to this structured and regulated solution for family health support.

He urged Nigerians in the diaspora to take advantage of the product, saying that redirecting just a fraction of the massive remittances sent home each year could revolutionize healthcare access and delivery in the country.
The new initiative is governed by national health regulations to ensure transparency, accountability, and adherence to set healthcare standards.
