The governor of Sevastopol, appointed by Russia, has stated that Ukraine carried out a missile attack on the headquarters of Russia's Black Sea Fleet in Crimea.
The Russian-appointed governor of Sevastopol, Crimea, stated that Ukraine launched a missile attack on the headquarters of Russia's Black Sea Fleet.
"The enemy launched a missile attack on the headquarters of the fleet," Sevastopol governor Mikhail Razvozhayev said on Telegram.
Sevastopol, which houses the headquarters of Russia's Black Sea Fleet, is a major city on the Crimean peninsula that was unlawfully annexed by Moscow's forces in 2014.
According to the Russian state media TASS, the missile strike resulted in debris being scattered over a significant distance. TASS also reported that a substantial number of ambulances were en route to the attack site. Additionally, Razvozhayev mentioned that a fragment of shrapnel fell close to the Lunacharsky Theater.
The governor appointed by Russia mentioned that operational services quickly responded to the attack and are currently gathering information to clarify any casualties.
The governor also cautioned that there is a potential for another attack and advised residents to stay away from the city center and remain indoors.
