Authorities in West Yorkshire are investigating the death of 28-year-old Nigerian nurse, Nnena Miriam, whose body was discovered in her Leeds apartment under troubling circumstances.

Her remains were found alongside that of a 32-year-old man, identified as her ex-boyfriend from Bradford. This development was confirmed by Fellow Nurses Africa in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday.
Miriam had been reported missing after failing to return home or respond to messages following her last known appearance at work on Sunday, April 27, 2025. Her disappearance triggered concern among friends and colleagues, prompting a formal report. Police eventually located her body at her residence on Dawlish Road late Thursday evening.

According to the nursing community, Miriam had endured a history of emotional abuse from her former partner. Although the relationship had ended months prior, he allegedly continued to harass her and force his way back into her life.
In a heartbreaking turn, Miriam had recently travelled to Nigeria to celebrate her introduction ceremony a cultural rite marking the beginning of her traditional marriage preparations. She returned to the UK only shortly before her death.
Fellow nurses and community members are demanding a thorough investigation and justice, while also calling attention to the dangers of intimate partner violence, particularly among immigrant communities.
